: : I've always had a great interest in the many escape artists who performed during Houdini's lifetime. I understand that many of them (such as Brindamour) were quite good. While in New York city in the 80's I had the good fortune of being able to review a rare periodical " The Escape Wizard " by VanTone. Since then I have not found any substancial written information by or about any of these lesser known escapologists. Does anyone out there have access to any material of this type? Thank You, Dave Pierce

: It is sad that there are no web pages devoted to this subject. There are Houdini sites, and even a Hardeen one, but no one else is collected this way that I have found. The sites are mostly the modern performers - or the 14 year old magicians who are "masters of escape". I am always trying to find material on the greats of yesterday. I found mention of a escape artist on a magic gazette site who was a midget (or whatever the "correct" term is now) and a woman escapist who were obviously from houdini's era. I will let you know when I find the address for the site as I didn't bookmark it (don't make that mistake very often anymore!) as you might like the photos if nothing else.

Thanks Bruce,I appreciate it. Dave Pierce
