Dear fellow collectors,
as I promised in an earlier posting, here are some more pictures from the handcuff that was offered on ebay recently. The lockcases and stationary bows of the cuff are made of nickle-plated brass, the swinging bows consist of nickel-plated steel.
Meanwhile the handcuff was identified by our fellow collector Alex Nichols. As Alex told me the handcuff was made by the British firm Hudson. It was listed in their trade catalogue in 1923. A large proportion of their production was sold to Germany, a somewhat smaller proportion to France. At least 10,000 pairs of this handcuff, which is the earliest swinging bow handcuff anywhere, were made. Thank you very much for the information, Alex!
Best wishes,

Michael
