Hi,
I have seen Colt cuffs with the rivets both ways. The reason the rivets on the pair you mention have a "sun like" shape, is they were flat headed rivets originally which were hydrauliclly pressed even flatter under great pressure when the cuff was assembled. This pressing compressed the heads even flatter, causing small cracks to appear around the circumferance of the rivet heads; hence the "sun like" appearance you mentioned. These are original and do not appear to have been messed with in any way. Hope this helps some. Regards, Steve Santini.: Another pair of Colt handcuffs(or maybe the same pair relisted) was just sold ebay. These cuffs had the rivets sticking up and had a sun-like appearance (rays coming out from the center). Other cuffs have the rivets flush with the surface. Did Colt manufacture cuffs both ways or have these been repaired? Did Colt do factory repairs like this? TIA
