Dear All
Though I would try to shed some light on the Towers Double Locking keys. Was interested in the info on the Balco Legirons, have just looked at the pair I have and the key is very different to the standard Towers Double locking key. Firstly it is much smaller in diameter than the standard key and the bitting is different namely 3cut, 1cut, no cut. Was interested at the valuation espewcially when I think I bought 5 pairs from Patterson Smith in about 1979 for $15- each. Viewers may also be interested to know that Hiatt also sold a double locking legiron in the 1920's they take the standard US key (I did have the original key which had a square head on it but it fell out my bag together with several other keys when I was returning from Bristol on my Norton Commando motor bike). I am very interested in info on the S&W model 94 cuffs, we know they were introduced in 1969, the original model had non plated keys and both cuffs were the same the pair I have is serial number 146780. I also have a special issue first model serial number R457121 which has a different key to the N section key. In theory there are 16 key combinations for this lock although only 14 are useable ie you would not use a key with no cuts or a key with all 4 positions cut. Does any other collector have the model 94 with different keys???? I am going to try and attach a scan of the above keys although not too sure if it will work. Would also be interested in any info on how the serial numbers for S&W products work and if they relate to dates etc. Any feed back grately appreciated.
