Hi, if they were actually Mounie cuffs, then the markings would have been NWMP for northwest mounted police, I have a pair so marked...it may also be that the MP is either a personal stamp, or for military police. But I honestly don't recall the RCMP using just MP as a stamp.
Best,
Bruce

: I have a pair of cuffs that i believe are a Tower double lock model. I can't quite read the patent dates on them, but I believe them to be about 1878. They are also stamped with an MP, I believe that they were from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, because back at that time all their property was stamped MP. Prior to the Royal designation. I would like any info that is available on these, as well as a key, and an indication as to value.
