These are refered to as "Plug 8 Handcuff". In Houdini's Handcuff secrets, he states that these were used in south Africa during the Boer War. He also states that they were manufactured by Hiatt, of Birmingham, Froggott of Boardsley, and the one time maker Fields.
: The Key has 2 points that take out the Plug and after you remove the plug you put the key in the hole and turn it to unscrew the cuf to open
