Hi Atame, Chrome is still used on Hiatts Darby cuffs and leg irons of modern make. Most other cuffs are called nickel and are usually what is referred to as Satin Nickel (not a polished nickel plating) There are very many different type of plating and i am not expert in this field.
The black finish on Peerless hinged handcuffs was called "Pentrate'and I have never heard of it by any other manufacturers. too many to mention and different companies call them al different names.
