: Hi Joe,

: I saw the long chain adjustable darby cuffs with great interest, and I hope I will be able to provide some additional information concerning their identification. Within this message I will try to show some pictures. In case I won't be successful with this I will email them to everybody who is interested in them.
: Firstly, I am sure that the cuffs in question are not a Kayser product (please see Kayser cuff below).

: Kayser adjustable darbies can be identified by the fact that the tip on the bow is completely round. It does not have the shape of a wedge like on cuffs made by other manufacturers such as Hiatt, RCS or Clejuso. Please see the tip of the bow in detail below:

: As it seems your long chain darbies have wedge-shaped ends, so they were not made by Kayser.

: To further determine whether you have a Clejuso product I will below show a few details of the Clejuso darbies that I have in my collection. One of these is a long-chain model, and I think it was made in the same period as your cuffs were made. I will show it here:

: The other one is a cuff with short linkage, I think it was made in the 1950s/1960s. Please note the "staples" by which the swivel is fixed to the cuffs, the same configuration later was used on the oval shaped model 12D handcuffs.

: Having a look on the plugs by which the locktubes are closed one will note that the Clejuso cuffs do not show any hammer-marks, which usually can be found on items made by Hiatt, RCS or Kayser. The picture below shows from left to right the plugs of the Clejuso long chain darby, the Clejuso short chain darby and the Kayser darby.

: Besides this the shape of the "linkage loop" on the Clejuso cuffs is characteristical. As I am not able to describe it I show a picture of these loops below for comparison with your cuff.

: And, last but not least, a picture of another Clejuso adjustable darby. As far as I know this is the only model where the linkage is fastened to the locktubes and not to the bow.

: I hope this was of interest for you, please email me with any questions you might have.

: And now let's see whether the pics will load...

: Best wishes,

: Michael
