Hi I guessing that your pair may not be imitation detective cuffs at all. I believe that they are the real thing. Since your grandfather was in law enforcement in the 30's, he would not have been issued or would have bought the imitation model. In fact, they might have not even been made in the early 30's. He most likely has the original Towers detective model. They were patented and sold since the late 1800's. It is ironic but I have bought and sold several of each type and sometimes find that the imitations can go for more money than the real thing.
