Are they the "Dollar $ Sign" handcuffs...as seen on this website's "Handcuffs-The Main Gallery"? That is the handcuff I immediately thought of when you described them as "S" shaped. If so, you got yourself a rare set of German(?) handcuffs. I can give you a lead as to obtaining a key, if desired.
