I'm quite sure that the heavy non swing-through model is pre 1970. I guess the rare (first?) swing-through model with the shiny surface, the more oval bows and the smaller hinge, too.
You're right that the last model (swing-though and non-shiny) was manufactured until the late 1980ies.
Maybe Germans most famous handcuff collector Michael Busch could give us some more detailed information about GDR-Handcuff.
